Bulgaria (2 of 2): Black Sea Resorts
Three resorts built in the socialist times: Albena, the Golden Sands and Drujba (now Sv.Sv. Konstantin i Elena). Between the old socialist hotels pop-up new buildings. There are few tourists there in early spring, but quite a few construction workers and hotel employees preparing the resorts for the next season. The relative lack of human presence, a seemingly deserted set, the empty swimming pools facing the sea, the ongoing construction work: all these elements contribute to a feeling of emptiness and melancholy. A metaphor for a certain slice of our society?
